Great article. I happen to be blessed to know Pat personally. She shines wherever she is. She has such a generous sweet giving heart. I have heard her tell of some of her experience at the Zoo and I know she enjoys what she does. She's a good cook too.

I have been so busy lately that I haven't had a chance to come over and read.

Pat sounds like a jewel of a volunteer, just like her husband. How wonderful that this couple are so willing to share their time so that Houston can enjoy such a wonderful zoo.

Rochelle, what a great write up of a very faithful volunteer. Obviously it's a rewarding thing to do (sans the shoveling poop)to take care of these beautiful creations. I have really enjoyed reading about the zoo and it's care takers. Thanks for sharing.

Another interesting story that talks about the Zoo, but it also introduces us to a really terrific woman. Thanks to all involved.

OK, I'm officially jealous! Watching an elephant being born. WOW! No wonder Pat loves what she's doing. Not only that, but the title to this series, "Volunteer Extraordinaire" seems to fit her to a T!

I am loving these blogs about the volunteers at the zoo. Pat looks too tiny to be picking up all that big poop, but you can see she loves what she is doing! I'll bet seeing the animals in the wild on the safari was fantastic. There's something very special about elephants, so big, so gentle and so graceful.

Thanks to Pat and all the volunteers at the zoo.
